Criminal Justice Audit and Compliance Intern (Part-Time & Remote), $14/hr

Diverse Computing — a Tallahassee-based tech company that creates innovative software for the criminal justice community — is looking for a Criminal Justice Audit and Compliance Intern to start immediately or during the summer 2021 semester. This internship will be remote only, but there is the option to work at our corporate headquarters located in Tallahassee, FL, once Covid restrictions are lifted. This internship would carry over for a minimum of 2-3 consecutive semesters with the opportunity for full-time employment after graduation. Ideally, we’re looking for a student who would be graduating fall 2021 or spring 2022.

Working at Diverse Computing is different from most places; you’re not going to feel the “grind” here like you would at a typical internship. That’s because we offer a dynamic work atmosphere where we welcome creative ideas, collaboration, and flexibility. You’ll be working on projects that have a measurable impact on public safety, all while gaining real-world experience.

The ideal candidate for this internship would be someone who is highly organized, a stickler for following rules, and an avid reader. If you’re a self-motivated worker who is ready for a challenge, this could be the ideal internship for you! Read on for more info.

As a Criminal Justice Audit and Compliance Intern, you will:

  • Work with internal teams to obtain an in-depth understanding of the FBI’s CJIS Security Policy (CSP)
  • Attend project meeting with clients
  • Develop project work plans and coordinate audit schedules
  • Communicate with agencies regarding upcoming audits
  • Organize and read through client documentation to verify compliance with the CSP
  • Analyze a client’s existing policies for compliance and areas of improvement
  • Write up audit and compliance reports for clients

Requirements

This job might be for you if:

  • You will be graduating from college during the fall 2021 or spring 2022 semester
  • You are able to start immediately or this summer 2021 semester and can work a minimum of 20 hours per week
  • You can commit to a multi-semester internship
  • You are a confident and professional communicator with excellent written and verbal skills
  • You are an avid and fast reader
  • You enjoy thinking through processes and creating flow diagrams
  • You have an interest in making a positive impact on public safety and law enforcement
  • You’re organized, detail-oriented, and tenacious — even when you encounter significant hurdles
  • You are a team player who enjoys interfacing with numerous departments
  • You are interested in being hired on full-time after you graduate
  • Your overall GPA is 3.5 or higher
  • You can pass a background check and drug screening

Benefits

We ask a lot, but we give a lot in return:

  • This is a paid internship at $14/hour
  • We offer schedules that are flexible with your classes and school activities
  • If you’re the right candidate, we’ll offer you a full-time position at the conclusion of your internship
  • We have an award-winning office culture that’s welcoming, fun, and collaborative; we’ve been recognized as one of the country’s best places to work and one of the fastest-growing companies in the U.S.
  • We allow for easy horizontal mobility among the different departments; if you’re unhappy in your original position, we try hard to understand what tasks you enjoy the most and find a position that is a good fit
  • You’ll have opportunities to get involved with young professional groups, charity work, and further professional training if desired
  • Working for a small company means that you can make a difference and have tremendous impact for our company’s growth
