Location:
You must either be based in the greater DC area, or have the ability to travel to the greater DC area. This position will mostly work in a remote capacity, with some onsite requirements.
In order to protect our employees and help stem the spread of COVID-19, Bixal team members are currently working entirely in a remote capacity. This will be our policy until we believe our employees can safely return to an office environment.
What will you do?
You will work as a content and web-savvy Brand Copywriter and Editor on our fast-paced and dynamic team. Under the guidance of our Creative Director and Design Team, this position will work collaboratively with UX and content strategists, graphic designers, and stakeholders to support communications and brand deliverables within Bixal and for our clients.
The ideal candidate is proactive in nature and takes initiative to create structure from ambiguity. You have a passion for using words to paint pictures and bring brands to life through digital storytelling. You understand best practices for digital communications and strategy in areas like brand marketing, user experience, information architecture, usability testing, Section 508 compliance, SEO, web analytics and multimedia production.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Take on the role of primary writer on various projects
  • Write and proofread compelling, accurate, and on-brand copy for channels including, but not limited to website, social media, video, and print marketing materials
  • Maintain and enhance the Bixal voice across each of our target audiences
  • Collaborate with team members to develop concepts, scripts, and storyboards
  • Ensure all copy adheres to our rigorous excellence standards. Authenticity is critical and everything we communicate to our current, past, or future customers must closely align with our brand voice and meet or exceed our excellence bar
  • Pitch, brainstorm, and own brand copy ideas
  • Work with Project Managers/Clients to ensure copy is delivered on time and in line with the project expectations
  • Work both independently and as part of cross-functional teams, including project-related, internal creative, and external marketing and communications
  • Establish and document branded content standards, style guidelines, and process to be implemented across the organization
  • Contribute valuable ideas and insights to Bixal’s overall content strategy
  • Help Bixal expand its brand and ideology, creating compelling, channel-specific ideas and messages with a sales or marketing angle
  • Leverage data to A/B test, optimize and report on success of copy across marketing campaigns
  • Perform other duties as required

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of proven brand copywriting and copyediting experience
  • Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust security clearance
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
  • Portfolio of work for review
  • Experience working in web content management systems (Drupal) and Atlassian software products (JIRA, Confluence, etc.)
  • Ability to translate complex concepts into compelling stories to attract readers and drive action
  • Ability to understand our audiences better than they understand themselves
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, attention to detail and quality assurance
  • Ability to write like real people speak and well-versed in plain language copywriting
  • Be well organized, self-motivated and willing to perform other related duties as assigned
  • Experience with Drupal 7 and/or Drupal 8 is preferred
Position is part-time, with the possibility of becoming full-time.
