Onboarding Specialist

We are looking for a dedicated Onboarding Specialist to work on the Onboarding team, which supports the Microschool Guides Operations team.

The Onboarding Specialist is responsible for the experience of Microschool Guide applicants (from intake and interview to contract signing) as well as New Microschool Guides going through onboarding and training.

This role is part HR + recruiting coordinator, part customer support, and part operations! This is a dynamic, highly collaborative role at the center of a growing company.


  • Serve as the face of Prenda to the applicant throughout the hiring process, providing an excellent and accurate representation of our company culture and values. Provide direct support to applicants and new guides via email, text and phone. Answer general questions about our process, what it’s like to be a guide, and getting a microschool started.
  • Move applicants through our hiring process including: evaluate and screen applicants, conduct virtual interviews, perform reference checks.
  • Accurately maintain and manage applicant files in our ATS. Handle confidential applicant information respectfully and professionally.
  • Continuously look for ways to improve the hiring and onboarding process, and collaborate with the Onboarding team on special projects.
  • Help create and support new guide engagement and onboarding activities, lead new guides through training and onboarding.
  • Provide administrative support and work on organizational projects for the Onboarding team (data clean up, content editing)
  • Assist with in person and virtual recruiting sessions with the marketing team


  • 1+ year of HR experience including knowledge of policies, best practices, ATS systems.
  • 1+ year of support experience; empathetic; passion for helping people.
  • Hands on experience with various selection processes like interviews and reference checks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, comfortable having difficult conversations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills. Approachable, honest and welcoming. People like opening up to you, and are comfortable speaking candidly with you.
  • Proactive, able to track and identify issues and troubleshoot quickly.
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects, prioritize deadlines, and applicant needs.
  • Solid knowledge of G Suite, able to pick up new complex systems quickly.
